Pauline lived in a centuries-old converted barn with a timber frame for 30 years with her husband and children. She was widowed a few years ago and wanted to move to somewhere with a smaller garden and to where she could spend many more comfortable years.

She sold her then-current home and kept some of the land to build her own modern timber-framed home. The idea of being involved in the design of the property, and to build something well thought out, was appealing as well as practical.
