October
When: Saturday 17th October 2026
Where: Near Witham, Essex
We're holding an open house event at an oak framed home in Essex.
Visiting a finished oak-framed home is one of the most valuable steps a self-builder can take – seeing a completed home in person brings drawings to life and offers practical insight. Attending the event allows visitors to understand how oak framing works in reality, how spaces feel, and how design decisions perform day-to-day.
You’ll have a chance to:
- Experience the warmth, scale and character of a finished oak-framed home
- See how traditional oak joinery integrates with modern glazing and energy efficiency
- Understand the benefits of a future-proofed design
- View craftsmanship and detailing up close, from structure to finishes
- Meet the owners of the home to hear about their experience building a home with a structural timber frame
- Ask informed questions about design, build process and performance
- Discuss your own ideas and plans with Carpenter Oak’s expert team
For anyone planning a new home or oak frame extension, visiting a real, lived-in project offers clarity, confidence and inspiration – helping you take the next step in your own self-build journey.
