A sunroom oak framed extension to a listed cottage was borne from a need for additional living space, to maximise the views and the desire to link the house with the garden.
The starting point was a beautiful quaint country cottage - with a problem. The upstairs windows were positioned relatively low to the ground floor restricting the solutions for the style of roof. The elegant result was a flat roof section oak frame. This style of frame reduces the impact of the extension on the existing cottage. The upstairs window and view remain unobstructed.
The flash of inspiration came from the introduction of the glazed oak roof lantern. The lantern allows a generous amount of light into the space. Did you know that a roof lantern gives access to 40% more light than a similarly sized wall window?
