At Carpenter Oak our highly skilled team of craftspeople have a deep understanding of what is involved in creating exquisite timber framed buildings.
We apply the same craft-lead approach to our design work, applying our extensive knowledge of timber buildings, to ensure your project will be a beautiful piece of architecture, lasting for generations.
Most of our designers are former timber framers, integrating their practical skills into designs. As designers and makers, we are inherently considerate of cost, and time. We understand the process of constructing a building, and how to guide you through this.
Our design team also includes RIBA Chartered Architects with the training and experience they need to bring your dreams into reality. Working to the RIBA code of conduct ensures that our architects act with the highest standard of professionalism, putting the interests of you and your project first.

No two clients have ever come to us with the same brief. We love the fact that you, your project and your site will present us with a new challenge, to build something amazing within a unique set of constraints.
We will never try to shoe-horn your project into an off the-shelf-solution. We know that one size does not fit all.
As specialists in heavy post and beam timber construction, our projects share certain construction principles which have been tested over many years, to guarantee the quality of your project.
We build using a tool-kit of systems and processes. We have a system of construction for green oak frames. We have a system of construction for glulam frames. And we have decades of experience in utilising other systems within the timber framing industry from SIPs Panels to window systems.

Meet the Team
- Ben Hancock-Parr RIBA ARB - Architectural Services Manager
Ben is an RIBA chartered and ARB registered architect who brings a wealth of experience in designing and making timber architecture.
He has worked in a range of roles at Carpenter Oak and elsewhere, from Carpentry, to Frame Design and Project Management, in addition to architectural design.
He brings his practical experience to every project, paying close attention to cost, time and ease of construction, to help bring your dream timber framed project to fruition.
- Patrick Drewello ARB - Architect
Patrick is an ARB registered architect, with many years of experience in industry leading architectural practices.
Patrick has a keen eye for detail, and forms excellent relationships with clients, listening carefully to your every need.
- Dan Wilson - Project Consultant
Dan is our Project Consultant who specialises in self-build projects where we are providing the architectural design.
Dan is an experienced Architectural Designer which gives him the perfect skills to help guide your project through the early stages.
Dan also has many years of experience working within a range of contractors across the self-build timber framing industry, and forms an invaluable part of our Architectural Services team.
