For the North London Collegiate School’s Ideas Hub (facilities for innovation, design, engineering, art and science), Carpenter Oak designed and manufactured a series of bespoke timber trusses, blending structural integrity with aesthetic refinement.
The visible spaces within the Hub feature air-dried oak trusses, crafted with steel flinches and recessed bolts, ensuring both durability and architectural elegance. In contrast, the non-visible areas utilize spruce glulam, optimizing sustainability and cost efficiency without compromising strength.
This project highlights Carpenter Oak’s expertise in precision timber engineering, delivering a space that enhances the learning environment while celebrating natural materials and craftsmanship.
