After graduating with a first class honours degree in aerospace engineering in 1990, Paul worked in the future projects department of British Aerospace in Bristol, mainly on the design of supersonic air intakes for the never to happen Concorde replacement. He then worked as a school teacher before getting the structural carpentry bug on a voluntary course just outside Bristol in 1996.
He joined Carpenter Oak Ltd in 1999 as a carpenter and then drifted towards the office designing structural timber frames. Paul studied Timber Engineering part time at Edinburgh Napier University between 2015 and 2017 and was awarded a Master of Science degree. He joined the senior management team in 2019 and oversees all design work within the company.
Outside of work Paul plays the mandolin and enjoys SCUBA diving but not at the same time.
