We’re holding a day for self-builders to learn all about building with an oak frame. This free event will be from 10am-3pm on Saturday 15 November 2025 at the National Self Build and Renovation Centre (NSBRC) in Swindon.
We're excited to be joined on the day by Leonie Wroe - a Carpenter Oak customer who built her own home, completing it in 2020 (you can follow her on Instagram). She'll be talking about the highs and lows of her own self-build journey and giving advice, as well as answering your questions.
We also have a great line up of other internal and external speakers who will cover a range of subjects, including:
- Self-build planning advice with Mark Doodes, Director of Mark Doodes Planning
- Designing an oak frame home with Ben Hancock-Parr, Architect at Carpenter Oak
- Financing and mortgage advice for self-builders with Tom McSherry from BuildStore
- A Self-Builders Journey with Leonie Wroe: Building an oak-frame family home in the countryside
- The whole build process - from foundations to glazing with Dan Wilson, Project Consultant at Carpenter Oak
- Heating and ventilation systems with Andrew Clapton from Total Home Environment
This event is ideal if you’re planning a self-build home or extension, and would like to understand more and hear from experts in the industry. Lunch will be provided and you’ll be able to book 1-to-1 follow up consultations with the experts in attendance.
