Rackley’s farm is in the Chiltern Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. It had ceased to be a working farm decades ago and had long stood dilapidated. It was bought by the current owners who could see its potential, commissioning architects Spratley & Partners and main contractors Kingerlee Ltd to work on the conversion. As the original barn had a beautiful oak framed roof it was a natural choice to repair and extend it.
Carpenter Oak were approached by Kingerlee, who’d previously worked with us on other projects, and knew our expertise in structural timber framing would be required for this tricky build.
