Charred Douglas fir
Preston Grange was designed as a sophisticated exterior entertainment space, rooted in the local architectural vernacular. Featuring a refined mix of flint, blackened timber, and clay tiles, the structure balances traditional materials with a contemporary aesthetic.
Carpenter Oak was responsible for the design, manufacture, and installation of the Douglas fir timber frame, incorporating innovative engineering solutions. Steel boomerang braces, subtly exposed or hidden within the wood, provided necessary structural integrity without compromising the minimalist vision.
