Levens Hall is an Elizabethan house near Kendal and one of Cumbria's most popular tourist attractions, with many visitors coming to take in the topiary gardens - said to be the world's oldest.
The owners wanted to attract more visitors to the estate and update their existing cafe and kitchen facilities that were housed in an old barn.
Haigh Architects were appointed, with Pinington Ltd. as the main building contractor. Carpenter Oak were approached early on to design the three oak framed elements - a covered outdoor space, lean-to structure and the roof structure of the cafe.
