East Coast Scottish home
A single storey home with classic barn proportions and sling brace style oak framed living areas

About
East Coast of Scotland, south of Edinburgh
2020
Inspired by the re-emergence of the new West Coast of Scotland vernacular architecture – a single storey, croft-style home with classic proportions – our client wanted a similar style house built on her East Coast plot, just south of Edinburgh.
Using a Scottish based timber framing company appealed to the client and they came to us with their architect’s drawings. They had a clear sense of the design and loved the idea of using an oak frame in the living areas to look like an upturned boat.
