Interview with Sam Skelton

Favourite project
I’m fairly new so don’t have much to choose from, but I learnt a lot on the Kindrochet cafe and farm shop.

What I enjoy doing
Making wine from whatever’s growing. Walking in the hills. Playing music.

Desert Island
Boris Johnson, Michael Gove and Theresa May – I’d enjoy watching the chaos.

Embarrassing job
I worked at Glastonbury once trying to get people not to urinate in the bushes, pretty impossible task.

Trad, folk, soul, reggae and most other things.

Comedy Film
Wayne’s World.

Enjoy about CO
Big bits ‘o timber, good craic.

‘Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe’ Abraham Lincoln – seems pretty appropriate.

Favourite place
The Alport Valley in the Peak District, grew up there and it always pulls me back.

I’ve been surrounded by woodwork from a young age but didn’t really decide it was for me until after a few years as a teacher and realising that I needed to be outside doing something practical. I’d been working on various different building jobs but was trying to find a way into framing, I moved up to Glasgow and a job came up at Carpenter Oak.
