Quadruple award win at RIBA awards

We are delighted to announce that one of our projects, the Wolfson Tree Management Centre at Westonbirt  Arboretum has won four RIBA Awards including a national RIBA award! Our Managing Director, Charley Brentnall, was at the regional awards, which took place on 23rd May at the Harbour hotel and spa in Bristol. Carpenter Oak & Woodland, along with Invisible Studio and Engineers Buro Happold picked up the very prestigious awards for 2017 RIBA Award, South West RIBA award, RIBA Sustainability Award and RIBA Client of the Year Award.

The quadruple RIBA award-winning building, the Tree Management Centre at Westonbirt Arboretum houses the arboretums machinery – a 35×20 metre space created using Westonbirt’s very own timber,  a mixture of English oak, larch, Corsican pine and douglas fir. The building is made up of seven king post trusses with a 20-metre span which allows for vehicle manoeuvrability. The timber was also hand-hewn on site as part of a course run by Charley Brentnall and the Carpenters Fellowship.
