At Carpenter Oak we love working with our clients and helping them to build their oak frames spaces, whether that’s a garage, garden room, oak frame home or commercial project.

So when our projects win awards we’re so pleased for everyone involved to receive this kind of recognition.

We’re very pleased to announce that two projects that we’ve been involved in have recently won awards.

Redhill Barn

Sarah and Tom, architects from London based practice Type Studio took an abandoned barn in Devon and renovated it into a contemporary home, ensuring they retained the character of the building, whilst changing its function. It has now won three awards from The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) – RIBA South West Award 2021, RIBA South West Conservation Award 2021 and RIBA National Award 2021.

You can read more about the project and Carpenter Oak’s involvement here.

Willowplatt Barn

Also a derelict barn in Devon, the owners of this building could see its potential as a holiday let and set out to convert it into a stunning place to stay, with an oak frame as the centre-piece. It’s now been chosen as Regional Winner in the ‘LABC Building Excellence Awards 2021’, in their category ‘Best conversion to create a single new home’. The barn is also short-listed for the National Awards to be held in January 2022.
