Devon-based timber frame specialists and constructors of bespoke buildings, Carpenter Oak, has relaunched this month, offering a wealth of new services that help to drive the self-build revolution.
The award-winning firm, headquartered in Totnes, is announcing a series of new offerings as part of a significant business shift, following a recent move to become part employee-owned and merge with its sister company, Carpenter Oak & Woodland.
The new services will enable the company to conduct complete builds for individuals, from planning and design through to creation, as well as provide consultancy services for building firms and architects, and comes as the company celebrates over 30 successful years in the industry.
Luke Copley-Wilkins, Managing Director of Carpenter Oak commented on the news, saying:
“After over three decades of defining what it means to build with timber, we felt that the time was right for Carpenter Oak to take its next step and add to our services as part of our ambitious growth plans for the business. By combining our expertise, strengths and portfolio with the fantastic team at Carpenter Oak & Woodland, who range from project managers to frame designers and carpenters, we can now say that our skillset is unparalleled in the industry.
“Oak is such a special material and with it we have worked on a variety of projects from bespoke houses and extensions, to a 600-foot Ballista (a Roman catapult) and a timber-framed swimming pool in Russia. Our relaunch and merger will enable us to be part of projects like these from ideation to completion and we look forward to working on lots more new designs in the future.”
On the company’s positive step to becoming employee-owned, Luke said:
“We made the decision to become employee-owned in 2017, allowing the business to stay independent and carry on its legacy. We have over 70 employees and we wanted to give them an opportunity that our co-founders had 30 years ago; giving everybody a shared stake in the company’s success. It’s also a great opportunity as part of our relaunch to take the business forward and give employees a voice.”
