Like every business in 2020 and into this new year, we have adapted to an ever changing situation to ensure business continuity, working in partnership with clients and suppliers alike.

We have put in place a range of initiatives for our staff, including government led ones, to keep the Carpenter Oak family working.

Following government policy on allowing construction work to continue, our carpenters are now working on a team bubble basis, observing social distancing at all times and regularly washing hands.   We have closed all communal areas and our core office team remain working from home.

Thankfully, being in rural locations in Devon and Scotland means we have lots of outside and large workshop spaces to work safely within, back at our bases.  Our premises are still closed to visitors for now.

Again, the core of our design, sales and project management staff, as well as back office functions, are taking full advantage of our recent investment in communications technology including a new phone system, which means we are working effectively from our home set ups whilst keeping in close virtual contact with each other.

It is the nature of all types of building projects that the more time spent on research and planning, the more successful the final outcome, and ordinarily we don’t always have that time to spare.  This is true for both design and project management.  So of course, as always, we at Carpenter Oak have decades of built up skills, knowledge and experience available right now to advise you with all of this and to help where we can with your build project plans.

Our aim as always to promote and inspire great design, quality craftsmanship in the use of timber in architecture and the built environment – whilst caring about sustainability of the materials we use and the relationships we make with our colleagues, build partners and suppliers – and of course you, our clients who commission us to build beautifully.

However, it is all our primary responsibilities and priorities to protect and ensure the health and well being or our friends, families, colleagues and local communities – and doing all that we can to support the wider national efforts – including Government guidelines and policies, in full appreciation of those people working on the front line of this health crisis.

We hope you all keep safe and well.
