Interview with Ben

  • What is the best job you have worked on?

  • As I have only been at Carpenter Oak for a short time, the best carpentry project so far in my career has to be The Forest Leap Drop Slide in Escot.
  • Who do you think you look like?

  • Todd Landers (Old Skool Neighbours) or Chuck Norris if I need a shave.
  • When not in the yard, what do you enjoy doing?

  • Spending time with my wife Sarah and two daughters Molly and Meredith, cycling and playing guitar...
  • If you were stranded on a desert island, which three people would you take and why?

  • Ray Mears, Keith Floyd and Earnest Shackleton. Because I'd like to get home again!!

Biography

I come from a background in Pattern/Mould making and I earned a living both playing and teaching guitar and working as a foreman for a Clear Span Marquee company until I found woodworking in 2004. It was then that I went self-employed and spent ten years working on a broad range of projects from handmade kitchens to green timber constructions and scribe rule timber framing. I was lucky enough to work with Alistair Guy during this time on some fantastic projects for clients such as The Eden Project, Cornwall and Escot Estate, Devon amongst many others. I started as a structural framing carpenter with Carpenter Oak in June 2014 and am thoroughly enjoying life here in Devon.
