Carpenter Oak will be at the National Self Build and Renovation Centre for their Summer show, 11-13 May.

The Centre is open all year round and includes the our oak framed stand and educational zone, where you can see an oak frame up close and get a detailed view on how our structures are put together.

There are also live demonstrations throughout the weekend, offering detailed advice and information on every imaginable building material and construction method.  We are taking part in the Battle of the Building Systems each day from 1-2, championing timber framed builds!

Ant and Alex from Carpenter Oak will be on hand throughout the weekend to talk to anyone interested in a timber frame for their project.  Our architectural services team will also be at the show to share their expertise and talk you through what’s possible.

Astrid Arnold will once again be bringing her scaled-down oak frame and inviting visitors to help construct it, giving a hands-on understanding of how a timber frame is put together.

We will also be joined by architects Derrick Whittaker on Friday and Nick Matthews on the Saturday, who will both be able to offer free consultations with you about your project

If you’re coming along, bring any drawings or plans you have, plus photos of the site or examples of what you are looking for.  The more information we have about your project and what you need from the design and layout, the better advice we can give you.

If you want to make an appointment to discuss your project with us at the venue, book in here.  You can also make an appointment all year round if you can’t make the show dates.

Continual Professional Development Event (CPD)

On the Friday, we are holding another of our CPD events.  The highly informative CPD from Carpenter Oak founder Charley Brentnall will give attendees an overview on the principles of timber framing, what wood can do, conservation and repair, as well as details around movement, glazing and air tightness.

The CPD takes place from 10am-12.  If you’re an architect and are looking to find out more about timber framing, please contact laura@carpenteroak.com to book your place.
