We are celebrating here at Carpenter Oak with the news that for the second year running we have won ‘Best Oak Frame’ at Build It awards 2015!
The winning contemporary, eco home designed by Roderick James Architects, was a new build with a difference. After clients, Jenny and David Spillane, met us at the Grand Designs exhibition and visited our show house in Devon it became clear that they were after an oak timber frame house that was contemporary looking whilst maintaining their love of oak.
The frame uses metal flitch plate junctions and ‘pig’ nut finishes to create an industrial yet natural interior spaces and alongside the structurally insulated panels we were able to deliver an oak frame that fulfilled the clients wish for a modern oak timber frame.
The Spillanes were keen to integrate into their new home the impression of a ‘floating frame’ – this was achieved by the combination of an unusually shaped oak frame with stainless steel feet, raising the frame off the ground to give it an elevated feel.
With the kind support of Jenny and David Spillane we are offering you the chance to visit the award winning house in Rushden, Northamptonshire and see it in action! On Fri 23rd and Sat 24th October the house will be open to view by appointment. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to make a viewing.
Congratulations to everyone who worked on the award winning frame and we look forward to the next challenge!
